MLT-101 Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology

This course introduces students to the role that the Medical Laboratory Technician plays within the healthcare system. This course covers a general overview of the departments and personnel of the clinical laboratory, laboratory safety, infection control, glassware and equipment, medical terminology, and mathematics as they apply to laboratory science. Students will develop knowledge and skills necessary to collect quality specimens and prepare them for testing.

Acceptance into the Medical Laboratory Technology program; AND take MAT-090, MAT-095, or appropriate score on the placement test; AND RDG-095 or appropriate score on the placement test.

Corequisite

Take BIO-116 and MLT-101L.
