CYB-240 Cybersecurity Capstone

This capstone course synthesizes knowledge and skills from the A.A.S. Cybersecurity degree. Using HCC’s cyber range, students operate in a simulated Security Operations Center (SOC) to detect, analyze, contain, and remediate cyberattacks.

Students apply prior learning in networking, operating systems, ethical hacking, perimeter defense, digital forensics, and cybersecurity ethics to realistic incident scenarios. Working in teams, they perform threat detection, incident response, forensic triage, hardening, and post-incident reporting aligned to industry practices. The midterm and final exam are comprehensive cyber range scenarios that require students to demonstrate job-ready performance. During the semester, students must complete two cyber range scenario sessions, each approximately five hours in length, scheduled during the midterm and final exam periods. Depending on availability, sessions may be offered during the week and/or on Saturdays.
