DHY-101 Dental Hygiene Theory I

This course introduces the profession of dental hygiene, the dental hygiene code of ethics, principles of infection and exposure control, the CDC Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and safety and emergency procedures. Fundamental concepts on dental hygiene process of care including patient management, dental hygiene diagnosis, oral health education techniques, and disease prevention strategies will be discussed. Additionally, dental instrumentation and oral deposits are discussed. *Prerequisite: Acceptance to the Dental Hygiene Program.
