MAT-095 Foundations of Reasoning
This course is designed to prepare students for
MAT-115 or
MAT-116. It is a preparatory course intended for students requiring a reasoning intensive general studies mathematics course. Critical thinking skills are developed through the study of simple interest, experimental design, data collection, graphical representations of data, sampling methods, summary statistics, and introductory probability. Terms, symbols, and basic operations of logic, sets, and Venn diagrams are also introduced.
Credits earned in developmental courses do not count toward graduation requirements and do not transfer.
Corequisite
Take
SDV-089 (students who have previously completed college coursework are exempt from needing
SDV-089). Take
RDG-095 or appropriate score on the placement test.
