MLT-205 Immunohematology

This course specializes in the study of the immunology and genetics of blood grouping systems and includes the principles of safe and effective transfusion practices. Laboratory procedures include routine blood typing, antibody detection and identification, antiglobulin and compatibility testing with a special emphasis on donor qualification and selection, component therapy, adverse reactions, and quality control and quality assurance. Students will learn how to correlate laboratory results with disease states and blood product use.
