2025-2026 Academic Catalog

Visual Arts Concentration, Arts and Sciences, A.A.

The transfer program in Visual Arts is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution and major in visual arts, visual arts education, or a related field. Students should identify an intended transfer institution as early as possible and complete appropriate courses. Students should always confer with advisors and transferring institutions for specific requirements as these are subject to change. All majors will be required to pass a professional portfolio review and an exit interview with an art department faculty panel.

Program Outcomes:

  1. Students will apply an understanding of the fundamental elements of art and the principals of design toward the creation of original works of art.
  2. Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze works of art using discipline specific terminology and concepts.
  3. Students will evaluate cultural artifacts with reference to: composition and medium, artistic style, historical context, and geographical influence.
  4. Students will create and present a body of work that demonstrates the development of a personal aesthetic, an advanced level of technical skill, and an understanding of composition specific to their chosen medium.
